“Chain Reaction” composition and live score for Rita McBride’s National Chain

“Chain Reaction” is a new site-specific composition for microphonic-percussive electric guitar and sine waves, created as an activating element within the architecture of Rita McBride’s National Chain installation. It uses my open-score method of structured improvisation and cyclical movements (without ‘beginning’ or ‘end’) that can react to movement within the spatial constraints of the piece and to always-now live environments.

For these special events at MVG/social practice in Lompoc, CA, “Chain Reaction” will be performed to accompany intermittent solo dance activations by Lavinia Findikoglu inside of the installation. Also in the exhibition is a large new painting, “Jiu Jitsu” by Glen Rubsamen, mounted on the outdoor side of the gallery.
